Our team focuses on advancing quantum optics and photonics research, specialising in single/entangled photons and electrons generation, manipulation, and detection of structured quantum waves, strongly emphasising foundational principles and practical applications.
Position Overviews
Graduate Students: We seek motivated graduate students interested in cutting-edge quantum optics research. You will work closely with the SQO members and researchers at Chapman University to contribute to experimental and theoretical advancements in areas such as single and entangled photon sources and single electrons, optical angular momentum, structured light, and light-matter interaction.
Postdoctoral Fellows: Postdoctoral candidates will take a leadership role in our research efforts, designing and conducting advanced experiments while mentoring junior researchers. This position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and professional development.
Lab Manager/Scientist: The lab manager will play an essential role in overseeing the daily operations of our state-of-the-art research laboratory. Responsibilities include managing experimental setups, ensuring safety compliance, and contributing to the group’s research objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
- Graduate Students: A strong academic background in Physics, Quantum Optics, or a related field.
- Postdoctoral Fellows: A Ph.D. in Quantum Optics, Photonics, Applied Physics, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in quantum optics laboratory.
- Lab Manager: A Ph.D. in Quantum Optics, Laser Science, or a related field, with proven experience managing and organising laboratory operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with advanced photonic systems, optical components, and quantum technologies.
- A record of interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Experience with manuscript and proposal writing and securing research funding.
